Summertime if the Best Time for Chimney Cleaning

You've just sat down on your favorite lawnchair with a cool glass of lemonade.  The grill is loaded with brats, burgers, and whatever those veggie things are your sister who is really into Yoga insisted on bringing.  The kids are having a waterfight in the yard and the youngest just figured out how to up the stakes by turning on the garden hose.  It's about to get real.

The last thing on your mind is probably the first snow of winter.  At least four or five months away.  But did you know that most chimney fires occur on the first heavy use of a chimney during the first snows of winter?  Over time, soot, ash, and creosote can build up inside your chimney, and combined with moisture and lack of use, these chemical compounds can create a volatile substance, just waiting in your chimney to be ignited.  When that first snow hits and everyone wants a fire, things are going to get real then too. That's why it's important to contact a local Mechanicsburg PA chimney sweep!
